If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s this: I love books almost as much as I love coffee… and trust me, that’s saying something. I’ve wanted to start sharing the books I read with this community for a while now — the good, the great, the unhinged, the “why did I finish this?” reads — and I finally found the perfect way to do it.
Introducing… The Crafty Lizard 5-Cup Rating System. ☕✨
Because stars are cute, but coffee cups? Coffee cups are a lifestyle.

I created this system to give you a peek into how I experience a book — not just whether I liked it. I’m a big believer that reading is personal. The same story can make one person sob, another person laugh, and another person DNF at page 10. Just because I loved something (or hated it with my whole chest) doesn’t mean you will — or should — feel the same way. One of my favorite things about the bookish world is how wildly different our tastes can be. My reviews are simply my experience, not a judgment of yours.
Here’s how the cups work:
☕ 1 Cup — I Finished the Book
Not bad enough to DNF. We celebrate the small wins.
☕☕ 2 Cups — It Made Me Feel Something
Laughter, tears, rage, swooning, existential crisis — if it stirred anything at all, it earns a cup.
☕☕☕ 3 Cups — Stuck in My Head
If I’m thinking about it while I’m trying to grocery shop? If I’m quoting it to people who did not ask? Yup. Cup.
☕☕☕☕ 4 Cups — Characters I Care About
Fictional people who become my people. The ones I want to protect with my life.
☕☕☕☕☕ 5 Cups — Plot That Actually Works
Holy crap, the structure makes sense. Bonus points if it keeps me turning pages long past my bedtime.

I’ll be sharing regular reading updates, reviews, and the occasional unhinged reaction — both here on the blog and over on Instagram. Expect cozy reads, snarky commentary, spicy books, emotional wreckage, and everything in between.
Whether you’re here for recommendations, relatable reader struggles, or just to judge my reading choices — welcome. I’m so excited to share my bookish world with you. ❤️
Stay cozy & keep reading,
Liz (a.k.a. The Crafty Lizard)
