I met Lynette back in November at an event and instantly fell in love with her cookies!
After I set up my space I like to walk around and see what else there is, if I know anyone, and at that time of year, look for gifts. I may also be searching for baked goods to help me get through the long day on my feet. I think Lynette was the only vendor selling yummy treats at this event so I was lucky to get to her before the public started coming in. I wanted to try all of the cookies because they all looked so delicious but I settled on a hot chocolate, a peanut butter, and a cannoli cookie. I also purchased a box for my son that had everything he needed before going to bed on Christmas Eve: cookies for Santa, reindeer food, and a sleep mask.
It’s hard to convey in writing just how delicious the cookies were. They were thick and chewy and had lots of flavor. The cannoli one seriously melted in my mouth and I instantly wished I had gotten more than one. The peanut butter cookie had Reese’s Pieces in it so there was a nice little crunch to go along with the soft and chewy texture. I knew right away that I needed to share how amazing the cookies were with everyone who would listen.
Sharing some posts on IG and purchasing a tray of them to take to my cousin’s house on Christmas Eve just didn’t seem like enough.
On top of that, there are so many other small businesses I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the last couple of years that I wanted to share as well. That’s where the idea for Friday Favorites comes from, and my love of alliteration obviously. It’s my goal to share a new small business with you every Friday so we can support small businesses in our area. If you have a small business you would like me to share please let me know. The more we support each other, the stronger our communities will be!
I hope you enjoy learning a little about Lynette and ROC that Cookie. You can support her by ordering some cookies at rocthatcookie.com, following her on Instagram, or sharing this story to get word out about these yummy treats!
How did you get started?
I've been a hobby baker for over 10 years, mainly baking for friends and family around the holidays. After years of people telling me I should start selling my cookies I decided to jump in and give it a shot January of 2024. I started a new job and work from home, so the timing seemed perfect! I quickly started doing craft shows and markets.
What keeps you going?
And really what keeps me going is meeting and chatting with people and other vendors. It's truly a little community, everyone with a small business is just trying to help each other grow and be successful.
Any big plans for 2025?
I packed 2024 with shows and I loved it, but this year I'm trying something new. When I started baking large gourmet cookies it was a lot of trial and error. So for 2025 I'm focusing on educating other bakers. I started selling digital products like my recipes, baking beginners ebook, and trying to share as many tips and tricks as I can on my socials.
Where can people purchase your cookies?
All of my cookie recipes, and cookies can be purchased through my Stanstore.
I have a link on my Instagram page.
What’s one thing you want people to know about you, ROC that Cookie, or your products?
One thing I want people to know is that I love baked goods! I believe in supporting each other, I'm always looking for the next amazing treat, and just as excited to share it with people.
Do you have a small business you’d like me to include in my Friday Favorites? If so, leave their info in the comments or email me at hicraftylizard@gmail.com.
