A 5-Cup Review
This book was not what I thought it would be… and I loved it anyway.
I was told the MMC was unhinged, and since that seems to be my reading era lately, I went in fully prepared. But unhinged isn’t the word I’d use here — though, to be fair, I’ve been reading a lot of Chantel Tessier lately, so my scale may be a little… skewed. 😅
Instead, this felt like a perfect cross between a cute, funny romance and a slightly morally grey one with spice. The MMC is arrogant and overbearing, yes — but there’s a soft side that makes him impossible to write off. The FMC is witty, resilient, and more than capable of holding her own, which made their dynamic so fun to read.
The story itself is sweet and outrageous, flirty with just enough edge. I laughed (actual snorts), teared up a bit, and kept reading because I needed to know how we were getting from point A to point B. Even when I thought I knew where things were headed, the execution — and one very unexpected twist — kept me engaged the entire time.
This book surprised me in the best way. It did exactly what it set out to do, and honestly? I can’t think of how Singleton could have made it better.
